Wellbeing for All
Kahiau Wellbeing Trust is more than just a nonprofit organisation—we are a movement of service, love, and advocacy for our Pasifika communities in West Auckland. Our deep connection to the people we serve, grounded in our cultural values of tautua (service), alofa (love), and fa’aaloalo (respect).
We understand the unique challenges our community faces, from navigating complex systems to finding mental health support, wellbeing services, and educational opportunities. Many of our people fall through the cracks due to language barriers, financial hardship, or simply not knowing where to go. At Kahiau, we fill those gaps by helping our community access free or low-cost services, advocating on their behalf, and offering a safe space where they feel seen, heard, and valued.
Our workshops, youth programs, and family-friendly events are designed to uplift and educate while celebrating our culture. We weave traditional values and practices into everything we do—from wellbeing sessions to community Talanoa—because we know healing begins with connection.
We’re driven by lived experience, cultural wisdom, and a bold vision to one day open a permanent safe space and community hub—a home for support, healing, and growth.
The word “Kahiau” means to give generously without expecting anything in return. That’s our foundation. That’s our commitment.
When you work with Kahiau, you’re not just working with a service—you’re becoming part of a family.
Our Mission
To empower Pasifika communities through culturally grounded support and connection, creating safe, welcoming spaces that promote mental health, healing, and wellbeing for all. Born from lived experience after the loss of our beloved daughter to suicide, we are deeply committed to suicide prevention and intervention. Our safe space, Tatyana’s Talanoa Space, will be a non-judgmental environment where people can be heard, supported, and feel like they belong. We offer one-on-one sessions, creative workshops, and fun community events that help break stigma around mental distress—especially within Pasifika families. Through these services, we aim to restore hope, uplift voices, and nurture a stronger, more resilient future for our people.

Services

Individual Support
We offer individual support through one-on-one guidance, advocacy, and referrals to free or low-cost services. Our team helps navigate mental health, education, and social support systems, ensuring Pasifika families and individuals can access the right help at the right time without judgment or barriers.

Group Programmes
Our group programs focus on mental health, wellbeing, and cultural connection through free community workshops, events, and activities. We create safe, supportive spaces for Pasifika families to learn, share, and heal together—using storytelling, fitness, faith, arts, and talanoa to break stigma and build stronger, healthier communities.

Family Services
We support Pasifika families through advocacy, referrals, and access to free or low-cost services. From navigating health, housing, and education systems to connecting with wellbeing programs, we walk alongside families to ensure they feel supported, empowered, and informed—strengthening their ability to thrive together in culturally safe ways.

Community Outreach
Our community outreach focuses on breaking stigma around mental health and wellbeing through free events, workshops, and local partnerships. We engage with Pasifika families in safe, welcoming environments, providing tools, resources, and open talanoa to strengthen awareness, connection, and access to support across West Auckland and beyond.
